Dr. Geaghan is Emeritus Chief, Pathology and Director of Clinical Laboratories at the Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, a position she held for 21 years. After residency and fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco, where she served as Chief Resident, she immediately assumed this leadership position. She holds five board certifications in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Hematology, Pediatric Pathology and Clinical Informatics.
Dr. Geaghan developed the dedicated pediatric clinical diagnostic service at Stanford for the first decade of her career, and then served as one of four Medical Directors overseeing the merged four-hospital University of California San Francisco-Stanford Clinical Laboratories (1997-1999). In 2001, she became Co-Medical Director for Pediatrics of the Stanford Hospital and Clinics Clinical Laboratories, which included the merged adult and pediatric services, a position she held simultaneously with the Chief, Pathology at the Children’s hospital.
